George Watford Jr. – My ROTC Experience

I joined JROTC in my 9th grade year of high school. I learned about the military from my father and advanced that knowledge of military training and discipline from my high school instructor, Master Sergeant Todd Hooker. He taught us how to become disciplined students, great leaders, and most of all, young Marines. I was promoted to the Executive Officer (XO) of my JROTC class, in which our school won several first-place trophies in Drill and Ceremony against other prominent schools during my tenure. I graduated Wren High School as a E-2 going into the Marines, completed boot camp at Parrish Island, and was promoted to Private First Class upon graduation. Started school training shortly afterwards to become an Electronic Maintenance Technician. I am currently deployed overseas, working in Okinawa Japan. June 2, 2017, I was promoted to Meritorious Corporal, a non commissioned officer in the United States Marines. The military has given me the opportunity to serve my country and to become a bodybuilder during my personal time. I won my first competition in July. The ROTC programs was a great start for me and a great opportunity for advancement as a soldier. The discipline inside of this program can be a great tool to advance any student in a well disciplined career. Semper FI.
